MIEKA PAULEY - Mieka Pauley possesses a voice that flows like good whiskey and a frankness that makes Alanis Morissette look shy. She conjures up a sonic immediacy with the same masterful command as Ani DiFranco with driving, yearning melodies that stand alongside the work of Michelle Shocked, Neko Case and Emmylou Harris. "My songs are like the actions that I can't really take." So says Mieka Pauley, a refreshingly candid artist whose vagabond background infuses The Science of Making Choices, her new full-length album now available. LAUREN ELYISE - Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lauren Porter began singing before she could talk. At the age of 13, she fell in love with the art of spoken word and began playing the keyboard. After picking up the guitar at the age of 18, she realized her strength as a songwriter and vowed that she and music would never be separated. Currently a Junior at the University of Dayton with a double major in Public Relations and Women & Gender Studies, she has still found time to perform and make a name for herself. In doing so, she has established a fan base and confirmed that she is on the right path. Inspired by artists like Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, and many other groundbreaking forces in music, Lauren has kept the spirit of her heroes alive in her music. Recently releasing her debut mixtape, Unknown Artist, Lauren has gained listeners and fans from all over the country. With additional plans to release her EP in the late fall, Lauren Eylise is determined to continue growing as an artist and is constantly strengthening her skills. "Whether I"m tickling the ivories or plucking ol" Dino (Eylise"s guitar), there"s always a story to be told and that story is much easier to swallow in the form of melody." $8.00,
