For 40 days, beginning with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday in 2013, national and local partners, individuals, families, communities, schools, communities of faith, community organizations and many others will focus on building a peaceful community. The MLK Community Coalition of Lebanon is encouraging everyone to make a difference in the lives of others by acting peacefully during this period and help to create a community of peace.
Another great opportunity to make a difference is by participating in the Racial Justice Training - “Seeing The Face of God in Each Other,” developed by the Episcopal Church. The purpose of the training session is to address inequality in our communities, is a multilayered participatory process facilitated by Deborah Stokes, MSSA, Chair, Racism Task Force, Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio. Participants are invited to enter a journey of awareness and understanding from any path on which they find themselves; and to engage with the materials, other participants and trainers to build inclusive communities of justice and equity/equality.
The Racial Justice Training will take place on Saturday March 9, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church at 232 E. Main Street in Lebanon from 9:00 am-4:00 pm. The training cost is $10.00 for materials and lunch for all attendees. Deadline to register is February 23rd. Please call St. Patrick’s 513-932-7691 to register.
In addition, the MLK Community Coalition of Lebanon will encourage individuals to sign the 40 Days of Peace pledge and commit to random acts of kindness to make a difference each day. For more information on the pledge, visit www.MLKLebanon.org. $10
