Creative writing in China: Now and Its Future.
A talk, followed by reception and discussion.
Fan Dai has been teaching English to English majors at Sun Yat-sen in Guangzhou since 1987. She is professor of linguistics, director the Center for Creative Writing, and current chair of the Department of English, School of Foreign Languages. She teaches one of the very few creative writing courses in China that combines western tradition with the teaching of English as a second language since 2009. She is one of the two or three people in Chinese universities who are trained in creative writing. She writes creatively in both Chinese and English and publishes in both languages. She has taught and researched on discourse analysis, stylistics and functional linguistics.
