The crush of shoppers didn't wait until 5 a.m. the Friday after Thanksgiving to begin shopping.

This is a sampling of Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday hours at local retailers and shopping malls. These store hours are subject to change and may vary by location. Call the store or mall before heading out.

• Kohl’s: Midnight Thurs.

• Wal-Mart: 8 p.m. Thurs.

• Target: 9 p.m. Thurs.

• Sears: 8 p.m. Thurs.

• Kmart: 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, then stores will reopen at 8 p.m. tonight until 3 a.m. Friday

• Toys R Us: 8 p.m. tonight, first 200 in line receive a “goodie bag” of stocking stuffers and snacks

• J.C. Penney: 6 a.m. Friday

• Macy’s: Midnight Thurs.

• Elder-Beerman: Midnight Thurs.

• Best Buy: Midnight Thurs.

• Dayton Mall: one entrance open Thurs. for Old Navy, all doors open at midnight Friday.

• The Mall at Fairfield Commons: Midnight Thurs., with more than 50 tenants open.

• The Greene: Old Navy and a handful of other stores open Thurs. At least 20 retailers open midnight Thurs., more open as early as 4 a.m. Friday

• Towne Mall: 8 p.m. Thurs. Retailers scheduled to open at varying times.

• Upper Valley Mall: open for Old Navy Thurs., open mall-wide at midnight Thurs.

• Town & Country Shopping Center: The center will open a front entrance only at 10 p.m. to accommodate its Jos. A. Bank men’s clothing store, which will close at 2 a.m. Friday. The shopping center will then reopen at 7:30 a.m. Friday.

• Miami Valley Centre Mall: Midnight

• Tanger Outlets Mall in Jeffersonville (I-71 and U.S. 35): 10 p.m. tonight
